Update Okta After Changing Devices

Contact the IT Help Desk to inform them that you have a new mobile device and need to reset your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
  1. Wait until confirmation from IT that your MFA has been reset.
  2. Open Chrome on your PC and go to https://crossco.okta.com/.
  3. Sign in with your Windows username and password. If you don’t know your Windows username you can get it this way:
  4. Click Start and type ‘cmd’ (no quotes) and press Enter to open a command prompt
  5. Type ‘set username’ (no quotes) and press Enter. You will see something like this:
    USERNAME=gwwidene
  6. Choose one or more of the multifactor options available. We recommend configuring both in the event that your mobile phone is not available.
  7. Click the Setup button for ‘Okta Verify’ and click the icon for the brand of smartphone you have. You’ll be instructed to go to the appropriate app store for your device and to install ‘Okta Verify’. Do that and click Next.
  8. Open Okta Verify on your mobile device and add your account. Answer in the affirmative to any prompts you see requesting permission.
  9. Point your phone’s camera at the barcode on your monitor until the code is recognized.
  10. Click Finish.

  11. Now click your name in the bar at the top and ‘Sign out’.
  12. Enter your username and password and click ‘Sign In’. Note that you’ll be seeing your security image.
  13. Check the box for ‘Send push automatically’ to save yourself a step next time. This time you’ll need to click on ‘Send Push’.
  14. In the notification that appears on your phone, tap Approve.

Great job! You have reset your MFA on your new device!
