Okta - Setup with MFA for New Users

  1. Open Chrome on your PC and go to https://crossco.okta.com/.
  2. Bookmark this page. We recommend naming it ‘okta’ and placing it on the Bookmarks Bar.
  3. Sign in with your Cross username and password. Your username is going to be first name dot last name (greg.widener). If your J. A. King domain username is also first name dot last name then you’ll have to append ‘@crossco.local’ to your username in Okta. This always works, but is only necessary if you have usernames that are the same in both domains. In this case your login will look like this -> greg.widener@crossco.local (which is different from your email address).
  4. Click the Setup button for ‘Okta Verify’ and click the icon for the brand of smartphone you have. You’ll be instructed to go to the appropriate app store for your device and to install ‘Okta Verify’. Do that and click Next.
  5. Open Okta Verify on your mobile device and add your account. Answer in the affirmative to any prompts you see requesting permission.
  6. Point your phone’s camera at the barcode on your monitor until the code is recognized.
  7. Click Finish.
  8. Choose a picture for your security image. This is to prevent phishing sites from fooling you into logging in to a false site posing as Okta. This unique image will help you know you’re logging into the real site. Click ‘Create My Account’

Great job!

Next time you go to the Cross Okta page to access GMail, UltiPro, etc, you will enter your Cross username and password. On the next screen you’ll see the ‘Send Push’ button and some checkboxes below it. Click both of the checkboxes under the button then click it. The Okta Verify app on your phone will produce a popup asking you to confirm your identity. Answer in the affirmative and you’ll be logged in securely.
