Okta - Adding a Second MFA
We all get new phones, forget our phones or our phones crash on us, Because of this, I don't want you to be stuck in a situation where you can't sign into Okta without my help. This is why when we rolled out Okta we asked everyone to establish two multifactor options.
Please take the time to check your settings and add that second option if you don't have it configured. This will only take one minute.
1. Log into Okta and click your name at the top right and click on Settings
2. Click the Edit Profile button and verify your password
3. Scroll down to the 'Extra Verification' section and make sure you have the 'Voice Call' option configured. Click the button beside 'Voice Call'. It will tell you which phone number you have configured. If you don't have this configured, it will walk you through the process of setting it up.
How this works
Next time you sign into Okta with a new phone which hasn't been setup with Okta Verify, all you have to do is click the little drop down arrow and choose 'Voice Call Authentication'. Even though you have a new phone, your number is the same. You'll get a phone call which will speak a number to you to get you signed in. Once you're logged into Okta you can repeat the procedure above and this time, reset the Okta Verify app and that will let you scan the barcode on your new phone.
