Move Excel file from Gmail into Google Sheets

How to move an Excel file (.XLS, .XLSX, .CSV) into Google Sheets from an email:

Another great feature of Google Workspace, is the ability to integrate their applications. You can also move Excel spreadsheets directly from your inbox, into Google Sheets. This is a great tool for quickly viewing files and/or preparing them to import as a Sheet as well.

Inside of an email that has a spreadsheet attached, you’ll see three icons on the attachment. The first icon is to Download the file onto your PC. The second icon is to move that file directly into your Google Drive.

The third option is to Edit with Google Sheets. This option automatically places the file into Google Drive, as well as opens it in Google Sheets.

Once it’s opened up in Google Sheets, you’ll see next to the file name, that it’s still an Excel file, in this example, it is an .XLSX. Let’s go ahead and convert this file to a Google Sheet!

To do this, click on File, then the option to Save as Google Sheets.

It’s as simple as that! Now the file has been correctly converted from an Excel spreadsheet to a Google Sheet!
