Brother Label Printing User Guide
Here’s how to get good looking, crisp labels out of a brother label printer every time.
- Set options on the label printer before attempting to print
- Click Start and type ‘Control Panel’
- Click on it from the search results
- Search for ‘Devices and Printers’ from the search box at the top right
- Click on ‘Devices and Printers’
- Right click on your Brother label printer and click ‘Printing Preferences’
- Check the box for ‘Trim tape after data’
- Click the Advanced tab at the top
- Change the Graphics / Halftone option to ‘For logo and text Binary’
- Click OK
- Open labels in PDF-XChange Viewer/Editor (2D and 3D barcodes do not print correctly in Adobe Reader with some Brother printers)
- If this isn’t your default app for PDFs, do this:
- Click Start and type ‘Default Apps’
- Click on it from the search results
- Click on ‘Choose default apps by file type’ at the bottom
- Scroll down to .pdf on the left and click the app on the right
- Choose one of the PDF-XChange apps
- If you do not have this option, send an email to helpdesk@crossco.com for assistance. We will push the PDF XChange Viewer to your PC silently in the background. We need your computer name to know where to send the program. To get your computer name, right click the Start button and click Run. Enter this text in the Run box and click OK: cmd /k hostname The text that appears in the command prompt window is your computer name. Include that in your email to us and we’ll let you know when it has been deployed.
- After we push the program (if you don’t have it) you have to open it once, answer ‘yes’ to popup asking if you want it to be the default viewer, then go back to step i in this list.
- Press Ctrl+P to print
- Make sure under ‘Page Placement and Scaling’ the Type is set to None
- Select the box that says ‘Select Paper Size by Document’s Page Size’ (on some versions it says ‘Choose paper source by PDF-page size’
OPTIONAL
If you want Chrome to open a PDF directly in PDF XChange Viewer as soon as you click on it in NetSuite, follow these steps:
- Paste the line below into your Chrome address bar: chrome://settings/content/pdfDocuments?search=pdf
- Turn the slider on to cause Chrome to download PDFs instead of opening them in the Chrome preview.
- Next time you click a PDF you’ll see it go to your download bar at the bottom. Click the little up arrow beside the download and click on ‘Always open with system viewer’.
From now on PDFs will open directly in PDF XChange viewer, resulting in less clicks to print.
